What to expect
Transporting your pet with Pappy Paws Pet Transport is designed to be a safe, stress-free, and smooth experience. To ensure everything goes as planned, here’s what you need to know before pickup, on the day of travel, and at delivery.

Before the Flight Nanny Picks Up Your Pet
To ensure your pet is ready for their journey, please complete the following steps before pickup:
🩺 Health Check & Documentation
-
Schedule a veterinary check-up to confirm your pet is healthy and fit for travel.
-
Obtain a valid health certificate, issued no more than 30 days before travel (this is required).
-
Ensure your pet is up to date on vaccinations and provide a copy of records.
🐶 Carrier & Comfort Preparation
-
Your pet must fit comfortably in a soft-sided carrier (18” x 11” x 11”) and weigh no more than 20 lbs. (You are welcome to ship one of your own, have me purchase one that you keep, or I can use mine for no additional cost)
-
Introduce your pet to the carrier (if applicable) well in advance to make it a familiar and safe space.
-
I will line the carrier with an absorbent puppy pad to prevent accidents and make it comfortable.
🍽️ Feeding & Hydration
-
Make sure to NOT feed your pet 4-6 hours before the flight to prevent nausea or accidents.
-
Provide a small bag of food (if applicable) for longer flights or I can provide it for an additional fee.
-
Ensure they are properly hydrated before travel, but not too much.
👜 Packing Essentials
-
Include medications (if needed) and detailed instructions.
-
You may pack a comfort item, such as a familiar blanket or small toy, to reduce anxiety. I also offer toys, blanket and anxiety collars for an additional fee.
-
Provide any specific feeding or care instructions for the flight nanny.
📞 Communication & Emergency Contacts
-
Share your contact information and an emergency contact in case of unforeseen circumstances.
-
Keep your phone on and accessible for updates from your flight nanny.
📍 Pickup & Check-In
-
The flight nanny will coordinate a pickup time and location. Please arrive on time to avoid any delays.
-
Your pet will be checked for comfort and readiness before heading to the airport.
-
We will confirm all travel documents before proceeding with check-in.
-
The flight nanny will send a picture during transfer (if picking up from breeder)
-
The flight nanny and puppy will check in with the airline counter (they insure that the puppy has plenty of room and the documents are all in order).
What to Expect on the Day of Travel
✈️ During the Flight
-
Your pet will travel in-cabin under the seat with constant supervision.
-
If needed, your flight nanny will provide gentle reassurance, hydration, and care throughout the journey.
-
You will receive real-time updates with photos, videos, and flight tracking.
⏳ Possible Delays & Contingencies
-
If the flight is delayed or rescheduled, we will communicate with you immediately.
-
In the case of an overnight delay, you may be responsible for additional costs (not limited to pets needs, hotel and/or rebooking fees).
